History of Clarendelle In 1934, Clarence Dillon discovered the opportunity of a lifetime in Chateau Haut-Brion – a tarnished but elegant and fabled estate that had struggled with high maintenance costs and meager returns. He entered into negotiations to acquire the estate and upon receiving a telegram while on a ship to the United States, he quickly responded “”Act Fast!”” This began a long family commitment to the estate and the wines of Bordeaux. The creation of Clarendelle, a brand from Clarence Dillon Wines, honors this ancestor and aims to extract the best from the region’s potential and knowledge, producing wines representative of their heritage and provenance. Clarendelle’s name thus pays homage to the ancestor who brought the family to this region. In creating Clarendelle the team from Clarence Dillon Wines and their colleagues at Domaine Clarence Dillon, wish to discover and extract the best from the enormous potential and savoir-faire that this region and terroir provide.
