Patriot/Rainbow Crab (Cardisoma armatum)

A popular species in the hobby, the Patriot or Rainbow Crab (Cardisoma armatum) is native to Western Africa where they inhabit the coastal rivers and brackish areas. A proper enclosure will offer well filtered water deep enough to submerge in along with additional land space providing substrate to burrow into. These crabs are brightly colored red, white, and blue, hence the name Patriot Crab.
